Allen Bradley 1791D-16BOX Digital I/O Base Block

The 1791D-16B0X is an Allen-Bradley manufactured discrete input device. This is part of the CompactBlock I/O series which features Sixteen (16) input channels that support sink wiring configuration. This module is typically used as part of a distributed I/O station and compatible with functioning as I/O devices of Allen-Bradley’s PLC2-2, PLC-3, and PLC-5 series, SLC 500, or SoftLogix programmable controllers using DeviceNet scanners. The 1791D-16B0X input channels accept an input signal voltage range of 0-30 VDC with a minimum On-state voltage of 10 VDC and maximum On-state voltage of 30 VDC at 40 Degree Celsius and 24 VDC at 60 Degree Celsius. Similarly, the minimum On-state current is 2 mA at 10 VDC while the maximum On-state current is 11 mA at 30 VDC. This module comes with built-in LED status indicators such as Mod/Net Led which is a bi-color LED; Logic Status and I/O status LED. The 1791D-16B0X comes with an integrated DeviceNet communication terminal. When using Thick physical media, supported communication rates are 125Kbps @ 500m (1600ft), 250Kbps @ 200m (600ft) and 500Kbps @ 100m (330ft). When utilizing Flat cable for DeviceNet communication, supported transmission rates are 125Kbps @ 420m (1230ft), 250Kbps @ 200m (490ft) and 500Kbps @ 75m (245ft). This module is configurable to implement Polled, Change of State (CoS) and Cyclic I/O exchanged. When connecting input signals to the 1791D-16B0X, the appropriate conductor size is 14 gauge (2mm2) stranded wire with 3/64 inch, maximum insulation thickness. It supports DIN rail mounting and comes with an IP20 enclosure rating.

The Allen-Bradley 1791D-16B0X is a 16-sinking input expansion module that belongs to the CompactBlock I/O product series. It has an 11 mA at 30 Volts DC input on-state current and 1.5 mA at 5 Volts DC input off-state current. This module also has 16 inputs per block and holds an IEC IP20 enclosure type. It produces 3 bytes for every 16 inputs and consumes 2 bytes for every 16 outputs. The expansion power needed for this module is 5 Volts DC (voltage) and 100 mA (current). Its operating temperature ranges from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. The CompactBlock I/O expansion modules, including the 1791D-16B0X block, can be added to any CompactBlock I/O base module to expand the I/O assembly up to 32 points. This module is mostly used for in-cabinet applications. It has 14 AWG Stranded connection cables and an isolation rating of 500 Volts AC I/O to DeviceNet. Each of the 1791D CompactBlock I/O modules carries the autobaud feature which allows it to detect the baud network rate upon connection to the live network. The 1791D-16B0X module can be mounted to a DIN rail or on a panel. This expansion module must be grounded first before installing. Yet, expansion blocks should NEVER be installed or uninstalled when power is put into the base. This may cause a destructive explosion in location installations. In addition, the 1791D-16B0X must be installed in an appropriate enclosure with a genuine wiring method that complies with electrical codes and regulations. The expansion dimensions for the 1791D-16B0X expansion module are 4.4 X 1.9 X 1.5 inches, and it weighs around 0.1 kilograms (0.3 pounds). Finally, this module has 5 to 95% relative humidity without condensing. This product is also CE marked, meaning that it has been certified for all relevant directives.
